Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site. Basic information for visitors to the Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site In northeastern Mississippi, near Baldwyn

 

Comprising just an acre of historic grounds, this memorial site commemorates a famous Civil War battle. On June 10, 1864, General William Tecumseh Shermans northern forces defeated General Nathan Bedford Forrest's Confederate troops, who were trying to disrupt a key Union supply route. The site was established in 1929 and transferred to the Park Service in 1933.

Reading interpretive panels and commemorative granite marker, viewing battlefield and cannons. Facilities: Visitor center (mile 266, Bald-wyn), interpretive signs. Programs & Events: Visitor center and craft center programs (monthly). Tips & Hints: Informational folder available at site or from Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center. Busiest Oct.-Apr., least crowded Dec. and Jan.

 Camping: None at site. In Tupelo: Bicycle Only Campground (on National Scenic Trail, Natchez Trace Pkwy., mile 266; 5 cabins, tent camping area; pit toilets; free). S Hotels: None in park.
